2020 has been a year unlike any other and for several months some of the world’s most stunning locations were completely off-limits, thanks to mandatory quarantine rules. From the empty streets of New York to the bare beaches of the Caribbean, some of the most exclusive luxury hotspots on Earth became ghost towns. Thankfully restrictions have eased and due to a greater understanding of COVID-19 and how to protect each other, we’re now able to travel once more to those dream destinations.

Not everywhere is quarantine-free yet but some fantastic locations have now opened up. Here is Simply Select’s choice of the world’s most beautiful quarantine-free destinations right now:

Dubai

A sun-kissed modern metropolis, Dubai’s gleaming skyscrapers, exquisite hotels, and year-round warm weather have made it a magnet for luxury travelers around the world. Home to over 200 nationalities and seemingly new attractions emerging every month, Dubai is a city that thrives on innovation. And from December, there’s no need to quarantine when you visit Dubai so if you need a glamorous sun-filled luxury break then don’t hesitate to pack your bags.

What to do:

Get a stunning view of the Dubai skyline on a super-yacht cruise or go inland for a luxury desert safari. Perhaps even float over the desert at 4,000ft on a hot air balloon. From Cartier to Louis Vuitton, shopping for the world’s finest brands is easy at the Dubai Mall (also the world’s largest mall). And sitting on the creek and packed with excellent restaurants, shops, and a heritage souk, Al Seef is a contemporary space with a nostalgic twist.

Where to stay:

Home to some spectacular luxury resorts, a stay in Dubai is always a pleasure. Choose from the cool beachside Jumeirah Al Naseem, the elegant One&Only The Palm, and the Mediterranean-influenced Bvlgari Resort Dubai.

Maldives

The turquoise waters and white sands of the Maldives is enough to make anyone pack their bags immediately for this Indian Ocean paradise, especially the luxury traveler. Now quarantine free, they’re one of the most glamorous escapes for anyone wanting to end 2020 or start 2021 on a high note.

What to do:

The Maldives is not a place to spend hours wandering around museums or old cathedrals – they’re about experiences and being outdoors in a truly unique location. With 22 atolls and almost 1,200 coral islands, consider seeing their beauty from the unique view of a private yacht, seaplane, or helicopter. Swim with dolphins and whales or hit the waves jet-skiing or kayaking. Relax in the evening at Finolhu in Baa Atoll, a cool beach with a party vibe that attracts international DJ’s.

Where to stay:

The luxury resorts, however, are the real reason to visit The Maldives and three of the most stunning are the magical One&Only Reethi Rah, the majestic Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi, and the gorgeous water villas of Joali Maldives.
